I didn't go to Roskilde (One of the biggest festivals in Europe, it was going on the first week I got here.) But I found this in my laundry and I like to pretend that I went.
 Maybe next year.

For Billy's fødselsdag we had a fødselsdagfest at Ryan's place. Most of the class came. To follow my tradition of buying the weirdest alcohol I can find I brought this:
Which I later found out the uncle of someone Lilli knows invented. Basically it tastes like licorice, just like everything else here. But very sweet licorice, with the slightest bite at the end.

A game of King's cup with a combination of rules brought about this:

This is what I was drinking that night. My flatmate, William, told me it was the best beer in Denmark. It was pretty good.

That night we went to Rust, a popular nightclub in Copenhagen. It was fun, but the music was mediocre and the ambiance was not that great. AND the drinks weren't cheap.

Another night I returned to Drone to see a band's first live performance. This was the beer I grabbed on the way.
It's called giraf. I liked the bottle. I didn't like the beer.
I met up with Ryan and his two couch surfers in time to hear the band's last song. Apparently they're set was about 20 minutes long.
Here they are in all their glory. The guitarist was pretty good, also played keyboard, and sang decent backup vocals. The singer had no stage prescence, could not sing, and the only instrument he played was the fog machine.

Gammel Dansk. A traditional breakfast shot. Apparently even the Danes hate this stuff, only old men drink it for breakfast.
I think it tastes like potpourri. As in it tastes like a mix of many bitter spices that probably should not be consumed. At least you don't really taste the alcohol. I actually kind of liked it. I think its better than akvavit. What better way to start one of my favorite nights in copenhagen?

I met up with Crissy, Ali, and Castella. Ali and Castella live in my building. We weren't sure where to go. I knew the guys had plans to go to Heidi's bar. They said they heard it was kind of a sleazy place where people go to hook up, and where people actually dance together. I figured we check it out, it was right in the city center so we could easily find another place if we so pleased.

Heidi's bar was great. We started off the night with 10 kroner shots of Jäger. That is the best deal in copenhagen. There are also a few other bars that do 10 shots for 100 kroner.
Then we continued on to the Jägerbombs. Here they are set up. 5 bombs for 100 kroner. Crissy and I would have to take 2 each. =)

We sat at a table.
Here we met 2 danish guys. They insisted on teaching us all how to arm wrestle. At least I could beat Crissy and Castella. They also insisted on buying us all a round of drinks. That I could handle.
Then they also proceeded to buy us all a round of Jägerbombs, also something I was fine with. However, it is a bit blurry after that.
I started talking to the cute coat-check girl. We definitely had a long conversation, but at this point all I could tell you is that her name is Katrine(like most danish girls) she commutes from nordkøbenhavn, and that isn't her only job.(Granted I am writing this weeks later.)
I'm a sucker for the Flight of the Conchords strategy. The girl looking bored by herself is always so approachable. (obviously there are not many people checking coats in this small bar late on a warm night.)
Max, Chase, and William show up. They were drunk, said hi, and continued upstairs to the dance floor. Not long after, Ali, Crissy, and Castella left. I stayed. At one point I went to look for the guys, but could not find them, figured they went home. I continued to talk to Katrine until 5am when the bar closed. At that point Max and Chase came back from upstairs. There's something wrong with my drunken sex drive or something and I never even think to ask for a number. She told me she would be working Monday.. and some other day.
I headed home with Max and Chase. Max drank too much that night.

Every time I am headed home at night by myself and pass by city center I stop at Heidi's bar to see if she is there. But have not seen her since.

Another night, Ali, Lilli, and I head back to the meat packing district.
We only had 2 bikes.

During the ride, Tivoli had it's fireworks.

In the meat-packing district we found a cart. This is what ensued.

It was a cold night, the bars were way too packed for me. We spent most of our time in front of a bonfire that was set up in the middle of the district. We ran into some people from Ali's class and hung out with the. Ate falafel, and returned to the fire. By the time we left the hundreds of parked bikes turned into about 6. Ours included.

A cool building on the trip home. Yes it was this light out already.

We took a 'shortcut' through the Amager field. I was leading the way and they got mad at the 'paths' I was taking. But we found a hill in the center of the field. The biggest hill I have seen in Denmark. This is the beautiful view.

And once I drank one of these. The end.

One day I went over to hang out at Crissy's place. One of her danish floormates made beer cake.
Flour, beer, brown sugar(, honey).
He was also not drinking for a year "to see if I could." Apparently he couldn't. He just lost a bet with Crissy that if he got sick he would drink again. A nice excuse.

That night we went out with Crissy's friend from home who was visiting. Had trouble finding anything. We tried to return to the meat packing district. But I didn't realize that there would be nothing there on a Monday night. Crissy was wasted off of her 2 beers (to be fair they were masterbrews; 10.5%) and we had to walk her home. It was still kind of fun just walking around the city.

Riding through the forest on our way back home from something, Lilli and I ran into this amazing caterpillar.

The way it 'wriggled' was very cool looking. Sorry I have no video.

Dear Lord Baby Santa, please let caffeinated cider always be a part of my life.

 Cult Shaker, The Party Maker

Elephant. 7.2%. Psh, this has been surpassed by the delicious master brews.

We had a guided tour through the old theatre museum. Some pretty cool costumes.

I really like that prison dress. I don't have a good picture of it. But it is complete with ball and chain.

This gets me every single time when I come home drunk.

One night Max, Chase, Ryan, and I went out to bars in Nørrebro. Again a lot of walking around without being satisfied with any bar. We end up at some bar talking to two girls. What I think happened is the guys all went home, but I wasn't quite ready to go yet. But after the girls lost interested I headed home. I of course took the path through the forest. (this picture is from another time. It was not actually this bright yet.)

As I was biking I heard loud music coming from somewhere. Disappointed with my early night (4:00) and ever curious I decided to try to follow it. After taking many wrong turns in this labyrinth, realizing I was getting farther from the music. I finally find the right path and stumble upon this.
In the middle of the forest. A big party with Loud speakers. However, it didn't really look like my scene. So I ended up just going home instead.

Back on that first night when Crissy and I went to the house party we had met this romanian girl, Adelina. Now, to be completely honest pretty much my only memory of her was her walking away from us as we both left the party, though I do remember her being extremely attractive. But Crissy got her number. She had tried to get in contact with her on a couple occasions with no luck. Apparently Adelina had been asking about "Mr. Curls," according to Crissy. She gives me her number and we get in contact. That night a bunch of us americans from Tietgen, the dorm on campus, were drinking there and then planning to head over to the meat packing district. The meat packing district is this area where there used to be... meat packing. Now all the abandoned warehouses have been turned into trendy clubs. It is also in the area where all the prostitutes and drug addicts live.

Adelina wanted to meet up. After drinking for a while with the americans, me and Adelina agree to meet at Nørreport station and then catch up to the others at the meat packing district. I leave tietgen and get on my bike (Drunk cykling, surprisingly easy.) with promises to meet back up with everyone at the meat packing district.
Moment of truth, I hear someone call out to me at the station. Only mildly disappointed. (Love you if your reading this Adelina.) Did not live up to the drunk image I had created for myself, but she was still very cute.
Her accent is just ridiculously charming.
We walk over to the meat packing district. We walk into the place that my friends said they would be going to. But it was way too crowded and the music wasn't that great, so we move to the club next door. Now I have never been bought a drink by a girl. Maybe that's just me, but I definitely enjoy the little bit of role reversal they seem to have here, and immediately I am bought a beer. I pick up the next round of course.
I never got a call from my friends. Tried calling them with no answer. I had figured at this point that they maybe decided against going out as it was already getting late (by american standards) before I had even left them. Found out the next day that they actually were there, I just never ran into them. Oh well, I still had a great time.
Hunger leads us away and towards durum and fanta. We decide to head back to her place, which is in Herlev. Looking for trains and buses she seems dissatisfied with the options available. I have no idea where we were headed. So we decide to get a cab. One thing of note, from afar, taxis look like police and police look like taxis. The politi all drive vans while the taxi drivers all drive little prowlers. Taxi drivers definitely drive aggressively here, and ignore lanes.
When we arrive at her kollegiet, she asks me if I have heard of Plants vs. Zombies. Fuck yeah I've heard of plants vs zombies! It was an amazing coincidence that I had just started playing the game that week. On my parents netbook that I took to europe with me my dad had installed a demo of the game. It's this stupid(wonderful) game where you plant plants to protect your house from invading zombies. Made by PopCap games. (The people that brought you such hits as: Peggle and Peggle Nights) So we take turns playing this single player game. I'm sitting there thinking "You've got to be kidding me." This girl invites me over to her place at 4am to play Plants vs Zombies.
And it was so much fun.
In the morning we end up beating the game. Kind of disappointing actually as now I have no reason to play the game on my own computer. She invites me to a beach party she was going to that day. But I felt like shit. Mostly because I wasn't really able to sleep well at her place, and I was sweating from the heat in her room.
We bid adieu and I take the bus and metro back to Nørreport to get my bike and cycle home. Of course after a nice bike ride I always feel better. I still slept the rest of that day though.
