Turbojäger

I didn't go to Roskilde (One of the biggest festivals in Europe, it was going on the first week I got here.) But I found this in my laundry and I like to pretend that I went.
 Maybe next year.

For Billy's fødselsdag we had a fødselsdagfest at Ryan's place. Most of the class came. To follow my tradition of buying the weirdest alcohol I can find I brought this:
Which I later found out the uncle of someone Lilli knows invented. Basically it tastes like licorice, just like everything else here. But very sweet licorice, with the slightest bite at the end.

A game of King's cup with a combination of rules brought about this:

This is what I was drinking that night. My flatmate, William, told me it was the best beer in Denmark. It was pretty good.

That night we went to Rust, a popular nightclub in Copenhagen. It was fun, but the music was mediocre and the ambiance was not that great. AND the drinks weren't cheap.

Another night I returned to Drone to see a band's first live performance. This was the beer I grabbed on the way.
It's called giraf. I liked the bottle. I didn't like the beer.
I met up with Ryan and his two couch surfers in time to hear the band's last song. Apparently they're set was about 20 minutes long.
Here they are in all their glory. The guitarist was pretty good, also played keyboard, and sang decent backup vocals. The singer had no stage prescence, could not sing, and the only instrument he played was the fog machine.

Gammel Dansk. A traditional breakfast shot. Apparently even the Danes hate this stuff, only old men drink it for breakfast.
I think it tastes like potpourri. As in it tastes like a mix of many bitter spices that probably should not be consumed. At least you don't really taste the alcohol. I actually kind of liked it. I think its better than akvavit. What better way to start one of my favorite nights in copenhagen?

I met up with Crissy, Ali, and Castella. Ali and Castella live in my building. We weren't sure where to go. I knew the guys had plans to go to Heidi's bar. They said they heard it was kind of a sleazy place where people go to hook up, and where people actually dance together. I figured we check it out, it was right in the city center so we could easily find another place if we so pleased.

Heidi's bar was great. We started off the night with 10 kroner shots of Jäger. That is the best deal in copenhagen. There are also a few other bars that do 10 shots for 100 kroner.
Then we continued on to the Jägerbombs. Here they are set up. 5 bombs for 100 kroner. Crissy and I would have to take 2 each. =)

We sat at a table.
Here we met 2 danish guys. They insisted on teaching us all how to arm wrestle. At least I could beat Crissy and Castella. They also insisted on buying us all a round of drinks. That I could handle.
Then they also proceeded to buy us all a round of Jägerbombs, also something I was fine with. However, it is a bit blurry after that.
I started talking to the cute coat-check girl. We definitely had a long conversation, but at this point all I could tell you is that her name is Katrine(like most danish girls) she commutes from nordkøbenhavn, and that isn't her only job.(Granted I am writing this weeks later.)
I'm a sucker for the Flight of the Conchords strategy. The girl looking bored by herself is always so approachable. (obviously there are not many people checking coats in this small bar late on a warm night.)
Max, Chase, and William show up. They were drunk, said hi, and continued upstairs to the dance floor. Not long after, Ali, Crissy, and Castella left. I stayed. At one point I went to look for the guys, but could not find them, figured they went home. I continued to talk to Katrine until 5am when the bar closed. At that point Max and Chase came back from upstairs. There's something wrong with my drunken sex drive or something and I never even think to ask for a number. She told me she would be working Monday.. and some other day.
I headed home with Max and Chase. Max drank too much that night.

Every time I am headed home at night by myself and pass by city center I stop at Heidi's bar to see if she is there. But have not seen her since.

Another night, Ali, Lilli, and I head back to the meat packing district.
We only had 2 bikes.

During the ride, Tivoli had it's fireworks.

In the meat-packing district we found a cart. This is what ensued.

It was a cold night, the bars were way too packed for me. We spent most of our time in front of a bonfire that was set up in the middle of the district. We ran into some people from Ali's class and hung out with the. Ate falafel, and returned to the fire. By the time we left the hundreds of parked bikes turned into about 6. Ours included.

A cool building on the trip home. Yes it was this light out already.

We took a 'shortcut' through the Amager field. I was leading the way and they got mad at the 'paths' I was taking. But we found a hill in the center of the field. The biggest hill I have seen in Denmark. This is the beautiful view.

And once I drank one of these. The end.
